Hello friends – I was recently working on a vCenter upgrade for a large organization and ran into the “The user group “NT SERVICE\ALL SERVICES” does not have log on as a service user right. (Shown Below)
Other blog articles and even VMware Support suggest to add this user via GPO. In this organization, this was not an option due to the long change control process in place.
We attempted to add the account via the “Local Security Policy” snap-in, however when adding the account, the system came back and said that it could not find the user/group. I then went into my old bag of tricks and remembered the application NTRIGHTS.EXE that was included in the Server 2003 Resource Kit.
What we did was run:
ntrights.exe +r SeServiceLogonRight -u “NT SERVICE\ALL SERVICES” -m <FQDN>
We were then able to restart the vCenter 6 installer and continue with the installation with no additional warnings.
